【作品介紹 Description】

Graphic design for the book The Joys of Motherhood, by the Nigerian author Buchi Emecheta. The project uses a family tree to highlight the organization of the traditional igbo family, punctuating the polygamy, the quantity of children, and explaining that it is a Nigerian history,through the sonority and the spelling of the names of the characters. In the box, the family tree is complete, but on the book cover it appears incomplete, in low relief, highlighting only the name of the main character - Nnu Ego -so that the family structure is present but demonstrating that the character is alone. Graphisms of the Nsibidi ideogram were used as an auxiliary element. These symbols have roots in Southeastern Nigeria and have fallen into disuse because of colonialism in the continent. We try to highlight through the color palette the rural/tribal context of the book. We selected ideograms that dialogue with the history of the chapter and that punctuate the openings of the book.
