【作品介紹 Description】

設計的民族性並不是簡單地模仿，而是創造。 《姑蘇繁華錄》試圖結合現代的設計語言來表達中國傳統的木版年畫這個反復出版的題材：裝訂改進了中國傳統的包背裝，為簡化裝訂工藝和滿足不超過1米的印刷幅面，設計了連在一起的短筒子頁和小M折，精確計算、折疊後的尺寸找平了M折帶來的多餘厚度；編輯設計將不同體例文本、圖片自然地安排到不同的頁面里，區分出閱讀層級；字體選擇襯線體中文和無襯線英文強調對比，並全書使用桃紅色和墨綠色這兩種桃花塢木版年畫的常用色，而目錄也結合了本書的裝訂方式，生動直觀地引索全書。封面設計在硬殼書脊的天頭做了45度模切，使硬殼封面短於書的尺寸，橫穿封面與書脊的另一個三角形切口則與短硬殼封面一起，形成被木刻刀刻過的木板，突出桃花塢木版年畫的木板元素。

 

《The Record of Suzhou’s Prosperity-Collected Works of Suzhou Taohuawu Woodblock New Year Painting Exhibition》 The aesthetics of nationality in design is not just about imitation, it is more about creativity. This book tries to use modern design language to display traditional Suzhou Taohuawu Wood Engraving New Year Painting that has been the topic of many previous publications. The special binding of this book was designed depending on the content which has complex hierarchies. It improves the traditional Chinese wrapped ridge binding, except normal French folding pages it also has short ones and accordion folding pages. After appropriate page arrangement, the extra thickness of accordion folding pages is balanced, so the book can still keep flat. To simplify the production procedure, the short French folding pages and accordion folding pages were folded by one paper and its extent is less than 1 meter which is the max size of printing machine. The contents is also designed based on editorial design and its binding way. The two carving sharp shapes on the Swiss style cut-flush binding cover also match the theme.
