Taitung Design Center (TTDC) 臺東設計中心

臺東設計中心從臺東的治理思維、自然地景、城市生活等議題介入擾動，是臺灣首個「縣市等級設計中心」，於2017年因應尼伯特風災後重建而成立，由政府單位與民間專業企劃顧問團隊合作，期待以城市治理高度導入設計思維，重塑城市品牌定位。

2018年設立實體據點，以臺東舊火車站作為基地，提擬對於這座城市的各式提案。整體空間設計移除過多的包覆與裝飾，呈現出真實樣貌。藉由揭露空間本身及周遭環境的自然本質，以共享的公共空間串起民眾與公部門間的關係，它是「城市的客廳」，吸引來自各地的訪客，也是「城市的資料庫」，透過每一個提案，紀錄著關於這座城市的過去、現在與未來。實體據點除了是一個「看得見改變的基地」，也在政府、設計專業者、大眾皆有著參與改變的正向力量的同時，作為一個「實際交流平台」，讓三者產生對話，並以實體場域做為「創意基地」，陸續策劃「世界最美的教科書展臺東場」、「Raw Trip —— 臺東採集計畫」，也在空間內常態設置「未來生活提案所」，讓民眾可透過簡單填寫提案紙卡，為自己的提案想法發聲，結合在地議題延伸討論。以此開端，TTDC 期望持續作為支援城市品牌、城市治理的基本配備與討論平台。

The Taitung Design Center (TTDC) is the first “Municipal-level Design Center” in Taiwan, focusing on adding value on governance, city lives, nature landscape with design. TTDC was established in response to reconstruction efforts and expectation for better city scenery following Typhoon Nepartak hit in July 2016. Different from normal public sector in Taiwan, TTDC is collaborated by government sectors and local creative consulting teams, dedicating to bringing the concept of design into Taitung’s government system and everyday life to elevate Taitung city brand repositioning. TTDC has set up physical space since 2018, taking the old railway station as a building site, proposing various proposals for the city. The overall space design allows space to present its true appearance by removing too much covering and decoration. TTDC shares the relationship between the public and the public sector in a shared space. It is “a base for visible change”, where as “a platform” to facilitate needed dialogue, including government agency, design professional, and the public sectors. TTDC is also “a creative base”, curating ‘the most beautiful textbook in the world in Taitung’ & ‘RawTrip - Taitung Collection Project’, and set up a permanent exhibition called as 'Future Life Proposal' to guide non-professionals to make their own proposals to extend the discussion to include local issues. In the future, we expect that TTDC will become a basic equipment to support urban brands and urban governance.
