【 Description｜作品介紹 】
A Dialogue Between the New and the Old
The NTU Humanities Building is located at the entry point of the main axis of the century-old campus. While creating a new identity for the university’s entrance, the design also seeks integration with history, creating a sustainable connection between past, present, and future.
1. Scale
The east and south sides are four stories high, aligning with the campus’s older buildings’ skyline. The city-facing west side and the north wing rise to six stories. A 50-meter cantilevered volume enhances spatial openness and allows the historic Agricultural Exhibition Hall to become the focus of the courtyard. The layout reduces visual pressure and brings dynamic asymmetry.
2. Materials
The east and south wings use local red brick, echoing the oldest campus buildings, with openwork patterns and shading elements inspired by the Agricultural Exhibition Hall. In contrast, the western and northern wings, use exposed concrete to match the historic building.
3. Imagery
Design elements—brick patterns, sunshades, window proportions, and stair and drain details—reflect and reinterpret those of the historic hall, creating a meaningful dialogue between old and new.

新與舊的對話
臺灣大學人文館位於校園重要軸線椰林大道西南端點，椰林大道兩側矗立著眾多貫穿百年創校歷史的古蹟與歷史建築，人文館承擔承先啓後、創造臺灣大學入口新意象的角色，創新的同時，照顧與傳統、歷史的「共融」，成為串連過去、現在、未來「永續」校園的鏈結。
1-尺度：
椰林大道側4 層，維持校園舊建築天際線；都市面西棟6 層；鄰農陳館北棟6 層，懸空50公尺大跨距，底層4 層挑空，使歷史建築農陳館成為四合院配置通透的中軸核心；而西、北棟並依循都市軸線而與東、南棟的校園軸線傾斜交錯，使北棟與農陳館間的距離尺度由9.5m 斜至16.5m，降低對農陳館的壓迫，不對稱性亦使空間更為靈動。
2-材料：
鄰校園古蹟群的東棟與南棟主要材料為同校園最古老建築行政大樓的紅磚，部分透空砌法，呼應農陳館的洞洞筒瓦遮陽立面；鄰都市面與農陳館的西、北棟則為同農陳館的清水混凝土。
3-意象：
對農陳館歷史建築的尊重，也表現在東、南棟透空紅磚遮陽、北棟遮陽板框架分割比例與洞洞館立面的關係，以及樓梯、落水頭等細部的對話上；東、南棟立面開口亦與古蹟群的開窗比例相呼應，在創新的同時，融合了舊校園的意象。
