FFB Convent is a low-tech, site-specific project located on the outskirts of Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. Commissioned by a Franciscan order, it serves as a multifunctional hub for spirituality, education, and community life. The design responds to local social and environmental conditions through an architecture that is open, resilient, and culturally grounded. Using locally available materials and traditional techniques, the project emphasizes affordability, durability, and community participation. Its spatial principles—flexibility, liminality, integration with nature—are transferable, offering a replicable model for similar peripheral or vulnerable contexts. FFB Convent shows how architecture, art, and social engagement can merge to create sustainable, inclusive environments rooted in place and purpose.
