【Description|

Metro and subway designs worldwide are similar, emphasizing practicality and safety, but innovation is often absent. The overall design is monotonous and lacks human warmth. The Moving Craft presents a previously unheard-of vision to governments and the general public, in which every metro line serves as a canvas for local characteristics. By emphasizing design and craftsmanship, we use New Taipei City’s Yellow Line as a leading example to embed unique local identities, establishing a new benchmark for public transportation domestically and internationally. As the metro line circles around the vibrant cityscape, we invite top workers and craftsmen from seven industries to participate in the design process, making it a truly unique metro design that reflects the city’s characteristics. Through this approach, we wanted to highlight the unsung heroes and promote sustainable design concepts, such as using recycled wood for the handle to the hand-woven chairs by the Corporate Body Taiwan Local Humanities Care Association. All were thoughtfully designed to enhance the everyday commute experience while fostering a stronger sense of community.
