【作品介紹 Description】

「學美．美學—校園美感設計實踐計畫」是一個教育部的校園改造計畫。旨在協助全國國小、國中及高中職學校與專業設計團隊合作，進行校園環境美感改造。本案為「學美．美學—校園美感設計實踐計畫」改造計畫其中一環，改造標的為苗栗縣公館鄉 南河國小。

Louis Kahn說：「學校」始於一個人在樹下分享，其他人則專心聆聽他的思想。若教與學的原型空間，來自於一個提供遮蔭的場所，人們在這遮蔭之下分享所知；那從這個想法出發，我們期待創造一個能夠包括老師、孩子和雞群的場域，並在原有的大樹下，互相分享彼此想法，並在樹下，與自然共學，創造「行動、觀察、體驗、紀錄」的參與式教學。

我們將既有雞舍從封閉的角落移至開闊的中央，用流暢曲線的白色金屬圍籬，輕輕地在台灣欒樹下創造了一個內凹場域，串聯起大樹、食農花園、堆肥空間，提供給孩子一個親切舒適的遊樂空間、也提供給老師一個可以與學生互動的教學場域。在這歐姆形狀的雞舍圍籬，通透地讓孩子可以靠近觀察雞的生活，從雞名牌、蛋架、餵食，開始與雞互動，愜意地串起生命與生命的連結。

Drawing inspiration from Louis Kahn's insightful words, "School began with a man under a tree, who did not know he was a teacher, sharing his realization with a few, who did not know they were students," we emphasize the importance of creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning. Our vision is to cultivate a holistic educational space that integrates teachers, children, and the natural world, including chickens. We aim to promote an interactive and participatory teaching approach under the shade of a Taiwan Golden-rain tree, where actions, observations, experiences, and records become integral components of the learning process. By doing so, we seek to encourage learning in harmony with nature, enabling a truly enriching educational journey.

As part of our design approach, we relocated the existing chicken coop from a closed corner to a central open area. We used a smooth curved white metal fence to create a concave space beneath the Taiwan Golden-rain tree, connecting it to the larger landscape, which includes big trees, a food garden, and a composting area. The ohm-shaped chicken coop fence allows children to closely observe the lives of the chickens, from identifying them with name cards to collecting eggs and feeding them. This design embodies the interconnectedness of life.
