【作品介紹 Description】

浮島 FLOAT ，為美術館打造的公共坐具，靈感來自港口邊的海上浮標。坐具上部使用軟硬適中的泡棉，並在高度上略高於一般座椅，讓老年者乘坐容易、起身方便，並增強舒適度與穩定度；坐具底部以弧形設計，微微搖晃，觀者在美術館中長時間走動後，腰部與腿部會累計許多壓力，一般座椅無法有效協助舒緩，浮島則能藉由微晃，放鬆肌肉，並搭配使長者起身容易的坐高。材質不使用動物皮革，使用鳳梨素食皮革，兼具防水與強韌特性，並減少真皮製程的汙染；面對傳統皮革家具維修問題，往往需要整座送修，或直接換新，造成浪費，浮島可模組化，每層可獨立拆解，便於維修，不需整體換新，減少資源浪費，增加坐具生命週期。

浮島座落於美術館各處時，能自在做座落於館中，球狀與折線外觀，並在各光源下呈現不同表面變化，與各類空間呼應。

台灣是個島國，港口是處處可見的風景，「浮島」的靈感便來自於周圍那微小、常被忽略的重要存在─浮標。希望人們在使用時能想像自己如同海鳥，享受著微晃的趣味與浮沉的悠閒。坐感呼應浮標在海上的晃動的意象，並以折線造型表現海面波光粼粼的紋理，體現台灣海島文化獨有的自然魅力。材質選用台製環保素食鳳梨皮革，來回應環境保護議題，並結合模組設計，使其方便維修、永續使用，浮島追求的是，工藝美感與社會責任的完美平衡。

FLOAT is an art museum's communal seating. Inspired by buoys, Taiwan's maritime landscape influences its design, encouraging users to imagine themselves as seabirds, savoring the gentle sway and leisurely buoyancy. The concept resonates with buoy imagery, capturing the play of ocean waves through angular lines, embodying Taiwan's island culture.

The seat's upper section employs soft foam, slightly elevated for the comfort of the elderly, aiding both seating and standing. Its curved base enables a gentle rocking motion, decreasing the pressure on the knee and waist muscles from prolonged walking. Using Taiwanese pineapple vegan leather, the material offers water resistance, durability, and reduced environmental impact compared to traditional leather.

FLOAT can be placed throughout the museum, its spherical and angular form showcasing diverse surface effects under varying lighting conditions, harmonizing with different spaces. Unlike conventional leather furniture, it's modular, allowing independent detachment of each layer when it needs to be repaired to extend lifespan and reduce waste. FLOAT expresses both craftsmanship and social responsibility.
